Scuba diving

The main scuba diving location is an empty beach located north of Yanbu’s creek. The reef consists of a steeply sloping wall in most places that goes down to around 100 feet or more before reaching a less steeply sloped sandy bottom. Occasionally there are sandy shelves at between 70 and 30 feet. There are many cavern-like structures in the shallow areas at the top of the wall, but don’t go very far back.

Around the city

With beautiful waterfronts nearby, it is not surprising that sailing, fishing and other water sports are popular at Yanbu. The city operates a marina and has developed stretches of beachfront for swimming and picnicking.

Grand Canal

If you only have a short amount of time to devote to sightseeing while in Venice, riding a vaporetto up the Grand Canal will give you the best perspective on the “real” Venice. There are several times and places at which you could board for a pleasant experience.

St. Mark’s Square

St. Mark’s Square is one of the most visited and most photographed places in Venice, and for a reason. It is lit up at night and, if you can make it out in the late evening, you will find that most or all other tourists have left it empty for a truly spectacular experience and an excellent opportunity to take photos.

Peggy Guggenheim Museum

You will pass by the Peggy Guggenheim Museum while riding the Vaporetto but do not leave Venice until you have been to see this museum’s gorgeous sculpture garden and collection of art featuring many renown artists including Picasso.

The town is home to large churches and lovely Hindu temples, a mosque and numerous restaurants. Historic and cultural Trivandrum Attractions

Sri Padmanabhaswamy Temple is a major tourist attraction. The legendary treasures stored in its vaults are said to be worth more than $20 billion. Constructed in Dravidian style of architecture that is typical of the neighbouring state of Tamil Nadu, the temple is widely regarded as being the richest Hindu temple complex in the world, boasting a splendid 16th century Gopuram; an enormous and highly ornate tower at the temple's entrance typical of southern India. The splendour of Padmanabhapuram Palace dates back to 1601 AD. Constructed for the ruler of Venad, Iravi Varma Kulasekhara Perumal, the palace is located ca. 50 km distance from Trivandrum and sits inside an ancient granite fortress spanning an amazing 4 km in length. The sprawling complex was once at the heart of the ancient capital of Travancore, but by the close of the 18th century the capital was moved to Trivandrum. The palace is one of the finest examples of traditional Kerala style architecture. Sitting at the foot of the Veli Hills, the palace and fortress make for a great day trip destination with a rental car. Trivandrum is regarded as one the top ten greenest cities in India and is home to the Jawaharlal Nehru Tropical Botanic Garden and Research Institute and the University of Kerala. Take a stroll in the campus grounds or enjoy a walk in one of the city's many parks.
