Explore the streets of the old town

Perched on both sides of the Mtkvari River, Old Tbilisi traces its roots back to the 5th century. Amble across Old Meidan, the erstwhile marketplace for Silk Road traders before drifting towards Abanotubani, the famed sulphur bath district.

Climb up the stone crown of Narikala

Further up the hills, Narikala is one of the oldest citadels in Georgia. Hop into the cable car or take a leisurely walk up for panoramic city views. Pay your respects at Kartlis Deda, the 20m tall Mother of Georgia statue that stands over the city.

Tempt your palate with local favourites

Georgia's unique cuisine is a fusion of Middle Eastern, European and West Asian influences. Some of the must-have local favourites are adjaruli khachapuri (cheese bread), chakapuli (meat stew) and khinkali (dumplings).

Shop for Soviet-era relics

If good bargains are your fix, don't miss a trip to the Dry Bridge flea market, where you can find anything from well-thumbed Russian classics, tulip-shaped Turkish tea glasses, Georgian enamel jewellery and other treasures.
